She was born in Roswell on March 29, 1985. Gerina Michel Mendoza is her birthname. Gerina Stevenson was born to Mexican parentage Rita Stevenson and Alan Stevenson. She is both Mexican as well as American. From the time she was a kid, she has had a strong interest in playing athletics. Gerina started playing golf at the age of fifteen. Gerina graduated from secondary schooling during her time at Goddard High School. While she was in high school, she took home an award at the New Mexico state golf tournament. As well as her volleyball game, she participated on the state level. 2003, she began her studies in the University of Texas. Her senior year was a success. she took home the top prize in every tournament she competed in. During her undergraduate career she was awarded Conference USA individual champion player of the year and UTEP Female Athlete Of The Year.
